The God Who Does Not Grow Weary

(February 2013 - Week 3)

(1). Psalm 121:1-4 I lift up my eyes to the mountains-- where does my
help come from? 2 My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven
and earth. 3 He will not let your foot slip-- he who watches over you will not
slumber; 4 indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor
sleep.

(2). Psalm 102:11-12 My days are like the evening shadow; I wither away
like grass. 12 But you, LORD, sit enthroned forever; your renown endures
through all generations.

(3). Isaiah 40:28-31 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is
the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow
tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. 29 He gives
strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. 30 Even youths
grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31 but those who
hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like
eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

(4). “Sleep is a daily reminder from God that we are not God. God handles
the world quite nicely while a hemisphere sleeps.” [John Piper, ©2012

(5). Prayer thought: We are encouraged to seek an untiring God. We
find strength in his presence. We discover God is a rock, a fortress, a
pillar and a stronghold. When we are weak, he is strong. When we are
weary and carrying heavy burdens, in him we find a place of rest.
