The Next Generation

Final Prayer Thoughts

The Next Generation
(January - Week 2)

(1). Exodus 3:15 God also said to Moses, "Say to the Israelites, 'The LORD, the God of your fathers--the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob--has sent me to you.'"This is my name forever, the name you shall call me from generation to generation.

(2). Psalm 71:17-18 Since my youth, God, you have taught me, and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds. 18 Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come.

(3). Psalm 145:4 One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts.

(4). 1 Samuel 3:7-10 Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD: The word of the LORD had not yet been revealed to him. 8 A third time the LORD called, "Samuel!" And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, "Here I am; you called me." Then Eli realized that the LORD was calling the boy. 9 So Eli told Samuel, "Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, 'Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening.'" So Samuel went and lay down in his place. 10 The LORD came and stood there, calling as at the other times, "Samuel! Samuel!" Then Samuel said, "Speak, for your servant is listening.”

(5). Luke 11:1 One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”

(6). “Praying Samuels come from praying Hannahs. Praying priests come from ‘the house of prayer.’ Praying leaders come from praying homes.” [E.M. Bounds, Praying and Praying Saints]

(7). Prayer thought: How will the next generation learn to call on God; hear of God’s mighty acts, or know how to listen to God? One must teach them to pray. Our generation is called to pray for and teach the next generation.
