Knowing the Spirit

Knowing the Spirit
(May 2013 - Week 1)

(1). Acts 2:17-18 "In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. 18 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy."

(2). Galatians 4:6 Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, "Abba, Father."

(3). John 16:13 -15 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.

(4). You cannot work out God’s will, but His Holy Spirit can; and until the Church, until believers grasp this, and cease trying by human effort to do God’s will, and wait upon the Holy Spirit to come with all his omnipotent and enabling power, the Church will never be what God wants her to be, and what God is willing to make of her. [Andrew Murray, Collected Works and Sermons]

(5). Prayer thought: We’ve received the promised Holy Spirit and have become children of God. The Holy Spirit now takes from Jesus and makes it known to us. We also learn what Jesus is interceding for as the Holy Spirit makes it known to us.
