Abiding In Christ
Abiding in Christ
(April 2013 - Week 1)
(1). John 15:5,7 I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains (abides) in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 7If you remain (abide) in me and my words remain (abide) in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.
(2). Acts 17:28 For in him we live and move and have our being.
(3). John 15:4 Remain (Abide) in me, and I will remain (abide) in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain (abide) in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain (abide) in me.
(4). To abide in Christ means to keep up a habit of constant close communion with Him–to be always leaning on Him, resting on Him, pouring out our hearts to Him, and using Him as our Fountain of life and strength, as our chief Companion and best Friend. To have His words abiding in us, is to keep His sayings and precepts continually before our memories and minds, and to make them the guide of our actions and the rule of our daily conduct and behavior. [J.C. Ryle - 1816-1900]
(5). Prayer thought: The more we abide in Him and grow to be like Him, the more his priestly life will work in us. Our lives will become what His is: a life that continuously prays for men. [Andrew Murray, With Christ in the School of Prayer]
