Praying In the Spirit

Praying in the Spirit
(May 2013 - Week 3)

(1). Ephesians 6:18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people.

(2). Romans 8:26-27 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.

(3). 1 Corinthians 2:9-11 However, as it is written: "What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived"-- the things God has prepared for those who love him-- 10 these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. 11 For who knows a person's thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.

(4). God searches the heart where the Spirit dwells and knows the mind of the
Spirit. The Spirit who dwells in our hearts searches the deep purposes
and the will of God to us, and reveals those purposes and that will of God,
“that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.” [E. M.
Bounds,
The Reality of Prayer, page 375]

(5). Prayer thought: pray in the Spirit for all kinds of prayer and requests, we need to know both ourselves and God. But we are not very objective. The Spirit of Truth intercedes for us, knowing both our weaknesses and God’s purposes. He teaches us to pray in the same way.
